Yes, believe it or not, the truth matters, facts matter, and the law matters.
So much of what we read today is about gamesmanship, or worse. We just came off a Presidential campaign cycle where reputable sources report that both candidates lied to the American people.
One might ask, “What is the world coming to?”
We read about “fake news.” That’s “news” that is not true, reported “facts” that are not facts. Smoke and mirrors, or worse.
Well, folks, believe it or not at the end of the day the truth matters, facts matter and the law matters!
Focus on Business Law – Mergers & Acquisitions
Our law firm focuses its practice on business transactions – in particular mergers and acquisitions – and on commercial dispute resolution and commercial litigation. In everything we do in our law practice, believe it or not the truth matters, the facts matter and the law matters. It is the Ethics in or 5 Es we practice.
Properly presented, all of this matters, and in fact it is all that should matter in arriving at something called “justice.”
Our job, when we work in commercial dispute resolution and commercial litigation, is to discern the facts and the truth, to understand the law, and to achieve the most favorable result we can for our client – consistent with the truth, the facts and the law.
When we work in business transactions, in particular mergers and acquisitions, much of what we assist our clients to do is to understand the truth, and the facts, and the law, insofar as the acquired business is concerned. And to assess and allocate whatever risks are identified as related to the acquired business and the transaction.
I really and truly believe that, in working with our business clients, it is possible for us to discern and understand the truth and the facts and the law. It is not only possible but essential.
So all of what we read about, or hear about, including so many lies and so much fake news and misinformation, and gamesmanship or worse, need not dictate the results as far as our business transactions (in particular mergers and acquisitions and commercial dispute resolution and litigation) are concerned. The truth, the facts and the law are what at the end of the day should dictate the result which we call “justice”.
