Benjamin Calkins is the Founder of Calkins Law Firm.
Prior to founding Calkins Law Firm, Ben Calkins practiced for several decades with some of the largest old style law firms in the World. It was while practicing with these large old style law firms that Ben Calkins learned firsthand about what business clients rightfully expect from their law firm and attorneys as well as what business clients most resent about old style law firms.
Ben Calkins is an honors graduate of Harvard College and the University of Michigan Law School. Ben Calkins was an Editor of the Michigan Law Review, was admitted to the Order of the Coif, was a legal instructor at Michigan Law School and graduated Magna Cum Laude.
Prior to attending law school, Ben Calkins was a Lyndon B. Johnson Congressional Intern for Congressman Jack F. Kemp.
After graduating from law school, Ben Calkins served as law clerk to United States District Court Judge Julian Abele Cook, Jr.
Ben Calkins has over three decades of experience representing businesses in all manner of legal matters, particularly business transactions and business disputes.
Ben Calkins received a perfect 10 “Superb” rating from Avvo, and was presented the Client Distinction Award by Martindale Hubbell. This award recognizes Ben Calkins’ excellence in quality of service, overall value, responsiveness and communication ability. Ben Calkins is also featured in both Who’s Who in America and Who’s Who in American Law.
Mr. Calkins is a 2017 Marquis Who’s Who winner of their Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award for exemplary service.
Ben Calkins is active in his community. Ben Calkins is the former President of the Harvard Club of Northeast Ohio and the Ohio Venture Association. Ben Calkins is a founder of the North Coast Angel Fund. Ben Calkins is also active with his church, as a 4-H leader and in numerous other ways throughout the community.
Ben Calkins is a frequent public speaker, and has addressed such topics as business law, business formation and growth, economic development, youth development and leadership and sustainable agriculture.
Mr. Anastos is an accomplished litigator, having successfully handled disputes in state and federal courts throughout the United States. He brings a practical and common sense approach to litigation and the various methods of alternative dispute resolution, working with our clients to achieve the best results for them creatively, economically, and efficiently. Tom has substantial first and second chair trial experience, and also argues state and federal appeals.
Mr. Anastos is a graduate of Harvard Law School, as well as holding a Ph.D. from Yale University. He achieved the AV Preeminent, the highest rating from Martindale-Hubbell. Additionally, Mr. Anastos was named one of Cleveland’s Top Rated Lawyers by the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

BONNIE M. GUST
Bonnie M. Gust is a graduate of Dyke College wherein she was conferred the honor of Scholastic All-American by the United States Achievement Academy. Ms. Gust is also a graduate of Case Western Reserve University School of Law, having participated in the Dunmore Moot Court Competition. She has been awarded a Certificate of Accomplishment from the Leadership Academy at the Maxine Goodman Levin College of Urban Affairs at Cleveland State University. She has also been awarded a Leadership Fellow Certificate from the Elite Academy at the Maxine Goodman Levin College of Urban Affairs at Cleveland State University.
Ms. Gust is an accomplished litigator, having successfully handled disputes in both state and federal courts. Her experience includes serving as lead counsel in personal injury, products liability, medical malpractice, and premises liability actions. Ms. Gust has also served as a member of litigation teams in complex commercial litigation actions.
AMY A. KLIMEK
For over 20 years, Amy A. Klimek has established herself as one of the premier legal minds in Northeastern Ohio. A skilled attorney, Ms. Klimek is a proven litigator whose experience has included providing representation for clients in administrative tribunals up through federal courts. Ms. Klimek has represented clients on issues ranging from environmental to energy related concerns successfully. Coming to the Calkins Law Firm after holding several successful positions at prominent law firms in the Cleveland, Ohio area, Ms. Klimek has quickly become a core member of the team and one of our chief legal strategists. Ms. Klimek graduated Cum Laude from Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee in 1989, where she received honors in history research. She was also the recipient of the John Henry Davis Writing Award at Rhodes College. While attending The Ohio State University College of Law, Ms. Klimek was awarded the Dennis Eastman Memorial Law Journal Award. Amy additionally is active in the local community as a member of the University Hospital’s Rainbow Babies and Children’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit’s Parent and Family Advisory Council.
LISA A. BRAUN
Since 1985, Lisa A. Braun has established herself as a highly skilled and organized legal assistant. Ms. Braun brings over 30 years of organizational experience to the Calkins Law Firm. During that time, Ms. Braun has showcased not only the attention to detail needed to successfully act as a legal assistant, but the highest level of organization skills needed to keep the day to day activities of a firm focused and on point. Ms. Braun is a skilled administrator, with previous experience in court filing, scheduling, payables and receivables, document maintenance and archiving. When she’s not acting as the backbone for the Calkins Law Firm, Ms. Braun acts as the Executive Director of Ohio City Power, a nonprofit organization that assists homeless citizens with food, job training and re-entry to the workforce.
